Our Story: From Texas Roots to Florida Ranchers
We first met in Texas—Brittany’s home state—where our story began. After Scott completed his degree at Texas A&M, we made the move back to Florida, where Scott called home. Together, we dreamed of a life filled with adventure, and for a time, that meant living aboard our sailboats with plans to explore the world by sea.
But in 2017, our lives took an unexpected turn. Hurricanes Irma and Nate claimed both of our boats—our homes—and with them, the life we had built on the water. Faced with loss and uncertainty, we chose to start anew on land.
By 2018, we found our dream home in Levy County, Florida. What began as a modest 6-acre homestead quickly blossomed into something much more. We started with just three pigs and a desire to live more intentionally. Before long, our little farm grew to include donkeys, cows, goats, a horse, chickens, and a vibrant garden full of fruits and vegetables.
Then in 2020, a new chapter began. We were blessed with the opportunity to expand to a breathtaking 100-acre ranch nestled among rolling hills. With golden sunsets and skies full of stars, this land has become our sanctuary—a place where we’ve not only rebuilt our lives but found our true calling.
Howerton Oaks Ranch is more than a ranch—it’s a reflection of our journey, our values, and our love for the land, the lord, and community. From sea to soil, we’ve discovered that sometimes the most beautiful destinations are the ones you never planned for.
